Sol Gluten Test Result (+/+)

After a 2 month hiatus from testing beers from gluten, i’m back. There was some issues with EZ Gluten’s website which delayed everything, although it’s now sorted.

Getting back into the swing of things, i’ve decided to test Sol beer. The 2009 Swedish beer testing study has this beer below their limit of quantification, e.g. negative for gluten. Seeing that result gave me high hopes for Sol beer.

Unfortunately, the result was positive for gluten, >10ppm. Based of the test strip i’d estimate the gluten content to be between 20-40ppm. Not safe for those on a gluten free diet. The retest is October was also positive.

Sol is a 4.2% abv beer made with water, barley, glucose syrup, and hops. Per 12oz bottle it’s 95 Calories, 3.5g Carbs, and 0.7g Protein. It’s made by Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewing in Mexico. Same as Tecate and Dos Equis. Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewing is a subsidiary of Heineken International.
