AN-PEP (Prolyl Endopeptidase)
- AN-PEP Trials
It has already been through 3 clinical trials. Two were in non-celiac individuals, supporting AN-PEP’s gluten degrading properties.5,6 The third was in individuals with celiac disease.7 However, since neither AN-PEP or the placebo group got worse on the gluten containing diet, no conclusion could be drawn. Finally a fourth clinical trial in celiac patients is currently enrolling.8 I am quite excited to see how it turns out. I decided to do gluten testing on several of these gluten-reduced beers and the surprising results revealed a lot about the intricacies of testing for gluten.
