Pabst Blue Ribbon is a standard barley based lager produced in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA; by Pabst Brewing Co. It has an ABV of 5.0% and for a 12oz serving it contains: 13g Carbs, 1.6g Protein, and 153 Calories.
Its results on the EZ Gluten Assay were positive, >5ppm gluten.
This test does not match the interpretation of Gluten In Beer Blog’s 2014 test strip. I think they may have misinterpreted the strip, it looks mostly positive to me… If I were to estimate based on the current strip, i’d say its between 30-60ppm gluten. I also tested PBR a couple of months back but did not document with an image, though the overall chart shows it.
Conclusion: Pabst Blue Ribbon is a barley beer with gluten levels likely in the range of 30-60ppm gluten. It should be avoided by those with Celiac Disease and those on a gluten free diet.
